St. Michael – Population 98,000
Bridgetown, the capital city of Barbados is located in St. Michael. The name is believed to have come from a bridge that was built by the Arawaks who were the original inhabitants of Barbados. There are two bridges in Bridgetown, the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge and the Chamberlain Bridge.
St. Michael features a number of historical landmarks, a rich heritage and a bustling commercial district. It is a densely populated residential parish with an area of 38sq kilometers.
